Fiber optic cables can be a difficult product to understand due to the vast data communications cables selection and variety of application* uses. To help identify the type of cable your customer needs, ask them 4 basic questions:

  1. Do you know the fiber optic count?
    2, 6, 12, 24, 36, 48, 72, 96, 144
  2. Do you know the type of fiber optic cable needed?
    Single Mode (SM - Yellow)
    62.5 Micron Multi-Mode (OM1 - Orange)

    50 Micron Multi-Mode (OM2, OM3, OM4, OM5 - Aqua)

  3. Is the fiber optic cable classified as loose tube (requires a fan out kit) or tight buffer?
  4. Do you know the environment where the cable will be installed?
    Armored
    Indoor Plenum
    Indoor Riser
    Indoor/Outdoor
    Indoor/Outdoor Water Block
    Outside Plant
    LSZH
    Caustic Environment?  If so, chemicals, heat, crush?
